Nobody tells our stories right, so we’re gonna tell them ourselves!
3rd Eye Street Media is a street-born publishing and media platform built by people with lived experience.
We’re here because people on the streets have knowledge, talent, creativity, and perspectives that Ottawa keeps ignoring.
We publish the things that come from real life:
Art. Writing. Poetry. Photography. Journalism. Stories. Rants. Comics. Ideas. Anything real.
No sugarcoating. No pity. No cutting things out because they upset people.
We show life from the ground level.
If you’ve lived the struggle, survived the system, slept outside, navigated shelters, battled addiction, fought poverty, or spent your life being judged by people who never walked in your shoes, then this platform belongs to you.
WHAT WE DO
We publish work created by people with lived experience.
We create street-level media: interviews, films, articles, photography, documentaries, and community storytelling.
We educate the public about what life is actually like on the streets, not what people imagine it to be.
We support community-driven projects, mutual aid, harm reduction, advocacy, and creative work that helps people feel seen, informed, and connected.
Everything we do is powered by lived experience.
WHAT WE’RE BUILDING
3rd Eye Street Media is building something Ottawa hasn’t seen before:
A publishing house for the streets.
A place where people who are usually spoken about get to speak for themselves.
A platform where stories aren’t filtered through politicians, service providers, academics, journalists, or people trying to explain our lives on our behalf.
An advocacy voice rooted in experience, not assumptions.
A creative community built by people who survived what others only talk about.
Your voice isn’t an afterthought here.
It’s the foundation.
WHY WE EXIST
Let’s not pretend things are fine.
People living in poverty and homelessness face stigma, discrimination, over-policing, violence, and constant judgment.
We’re blamed for surviving conditions we didn’t create.
Policies are written by people who’ve never slept outside.
Decisions are made without the people most affected being in the room.
The public sees tents, addiction, and crisis. They rarely see the trauma, resilience, community, and humanity behind them.
But we do.
Because we’ve lived it.
And despite everything, our communities keep showing up for each other. We share food, information, gear, support, warnings, and hope when nobody else will.
That’s why 3ESM exists.
Because if society keeps misrepresenting us, we’ll represent ourselves.
If nobody documents our reality, we’ll do it.
If nobody listens, we’ll get louder.
This isn’t just a media platform.
It’s a counterattack!
It’s a refusal to be erased.
